【摘要】:Afterwaterbornetrafficpaintsareappliedtoaroad,airstrip,orparkinglotpavement,itisimportantthatthepaintfilmsbesufficientlyhardened,coalesced,orcuredsotheywillnotberemovedbyrain.Thispracticecanbeusedtodeterminetherelativeperformanceofbindersandothercomponentswithintrafficpaintfortheireffectonthewater-washoffresistanceofthecoating.Somekeyelementsofthecoatingthatmayaffectwater-wash-offperformancearethequalityandtypeoflatexbinder,thedrytimeofthecoating(oftenconductedbyTestMethodD711),pigmentvolumeconcentration(PVC),andtherelativewatersensitivityofadditives(forexample,pigmentdispersants,andsurfactants)inthecoating.1.1Atrafficpaintfilmfreshlyappliedtoaroadway,airstrip,orparkinglotmaybeexposedtorainofvaryingintensitiesshortlyafterapplication.Thispracticewasdesignedtodeterminetherelativewaterwash-offresistanceofanappliedtrafficpaintfilmundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsusingawaterfaucettosimulateaheavyrain.Thislaboratorypracticecanalsobeusedtocompareconventionalandfast-drywaterbornetrafficpaintsandtheeffectsofbindersandothercomponentsintrafficfortheirrelativeabilitytowithstandaheavyrainsoonafterapplication.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
