【摘要】:1.1Thisguideisintendedasanaidinestablishingandmaintainingapreparatorycycleforelectroplatingonhigh-carbonsteel(Note0)producingaminimumofhydrogenembrittlementandmaximumadhesionoftheelectrodepositedmetal.Forthepurposeofthisguide,steelscontaining0.35%ofcarbonormore,andcase-hardenedlow-carbonsteel,aredefinedashigh-carbonsteels.Thereisnogenerallyrecognizeddefinitecarboncontentdividinghighfromlow-carbonsteelsforelectroplatingpurposes.Electroplatingofplainhigh-carbonsteelintroducedproblemsnotfoundinsimilaroperationsonlow-carbonsteel.Duringthecleaningandelectroplatingcycle,high-carbonsteeldiffersfromlow-carbonsteelinregardtoitsgreatertendencytobecomeembrittledandthegreaterdifficultyinobtainingmaximumadhesionoftheelectrodeposit.Thepreparationoflow-carbonsteelforelectroplatingiscoveredinPracticeB183.1.2Thisguidedoesnotapplytotheelectroplatingofalloysteel.FormethodsofchromiumelectroplatingdirectlyonsteelseeGuideB177.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblemsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardsstatement,see.
